Day Trips

Take a short drive to the many beautiful sites in Plumas County and Lassen National Park!

Hiking at Lassen National Park is spectacular.  The Park is immense, with numerous trails.  Hike to “Bumpass Hell” with its large boiling water and mud pits.  Hike to the top of Mt. Lassen!  Or stroll along trails with gorgeous wildflowers, waterfalls and incredible views.  Check conditions ahead of time because the snow pack may still be high, depending on the time of year and snowfall in the previous winter.

A favorite family trip is through the quiet and quaint village of Clear Creek, then on to Westwood to visit the historic logging town.  See the museum and Paul Bunyan with his pal, Babe the blue ox.

Near Westwood is a great kayaking location, “Mountain Meadows” which offers miles of serene paddling.  The sounds of osprey, heron, geese and numerous other birds fill the air.  Perhaps you’ll get lucky and see a beaver lodge!

Longer day trips can include Reno, Lake Tahoe or even Lava Beds National Monument.  From our base in the Sierras, you have the opportunity to explore!
